China's installed capacity of power batteries reaches 16.2 GWh in January 2022 03-29-2022

Summary: China's total installed capacity of power batteries in Jan. 2022 is 16.2 GWh, an increase of 86.9% YoY. The total capacity of ternary battery is 7.3 GWh, a YoY rise of 35.2% and that of lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery is 8.9 GWh, an increase of 172.7% YoY.

Output of power batteries

In terms of output, China had a total output of 29.7 GWh power batteries, a YoY increase of 146.2% and a MoM fall of 6.2%. Among them, the output of ternary batteries was 10.8 GWh, accounting for 36.5% of the total output, which increased by 57.9% YoY and dropped by 5.4% MoM; the output of LFP batteries was 18.8 GWh, accounting for 63.3% of the total output and that was a YoY increase of 261.8% and a MoM fall of 6.3%.

 

Installed capacity of power batteries

In terms of installed capacity, China had 16.2 GWh installed capacity of power batteries, a YoY increase of 86.9% and a MoM fall of 38.3%. Among it, ternary batteries had an installed capacity of 7.3 GWh, a YoY increase of 35.2% and a MoM decrease of 34.0%; LFP batteries had an installed capacity of 8.9 GWh, an increase of 172.7% YoY and a decrease of 41.0% MoM.

 

Sales of New Energy Vehicles

In Jan. 2022, China produced 452,000 new energy vehicles, a YoY increase of 130% and a MoM decrease of 12.6%. At the same time, China sold 431,000 of them, an increase of 140% YoY and a fall of 18.6% MoM.

 

Concentration Ratio

In terms of concentration ratio, the number of power battery enterprises in China's new energy vehicles industry which had their power batteries loaded and matched to vehicles was 47, one less than the same period last year. The top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery companies have respective installed capacity of 12.7 GWh, 14.1 GWh and 15.3 GWh, accounting for 78.6%, 87.1% and 94.8% of China's total installed capacity respectively.
